Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American British sitarist and musician. She was the first and first woman to receive a British House of Commons Shield she's received Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to play live in concert and serve as a presenter at the award ceremony. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young rising singer on Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is Ravi Shankar's student as well as his daughter of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. She was a young girl who travelled back and forth to London as well as New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years of age. She then moved to Encinitas CA, where she earned her High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman but she has a very amazing career in singing and recording. She has been accompanying her father in the stage for a long time. In 1998 she released her first single album Anourag. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Stage performance is a large part of her career. She's performed at many important venues across the world. Anoushka isn't just a musician. She also published Bapi, the love of my life in the year 2002. It is a biography which pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she starred as a character in Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam dancer. Her career continues to grow and she'll continue to accomplish many amazing things in the future. Anoushka Shakar, born in England lived the majority of her time between London Delhi. After moving to California she graduated from her high school. Anoushka started her music studies at age nine. After four years she played her first appearance on the sitar in Delhi during her father's 75th birthday celebration. Accompanying her father as he toured the world Anoushka was able to accumulate a variety of experiences appearing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and making recordings with George Harrison. She was the youngest and sole female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament to recognize her musicianship and talent as an outstanding musician from the Asian Arts.
